The epitome of bug smashers..

The Cessna 172. I have a number of these in the stash, ranging from about 1/200, to 1/20, but mostly in 1/48. This is the ESCI floatplane kit. Modelcraft have reboxed it, and include the parts for the land-based version in their boxing, but ESCI only give you floats in this boxing. The floatplane is a 172XP, which is the 190HP version with a constant speed (or variable pitch) prop.
This is going to be done OOB because I want to finish it relatively quickly.
So far, I've sprayed the interior with Tamiya white primer, and masked and painted the side panels, cockpit floor, and luggage shelf. The sidewalls and shelf will get a coat of clear satin to tone them down a touch..

And here are the floats..

Really looking good there young fella. Some nice work on that interior. The humble Cessna 172 should feature more in builds I think.

Nice start Cap'n.

Tor, find me a Nichmo 172 and you will have one more 172 build on the site as well.

Will do....if I don't grab it myself. Although I don't have any space to display one!

Courtesy of a very generous Damo (aka Cap'n), I have one of these beauties in my stash. I could not bring myself to part with it, but if I ever come across another one Capt Eric, I will let you know. I can just imagine what a magic you would weave with is kit.

More progress over the last coupla days..
Seats painted and assembled to the cockpit floor. Seatbelts made from 1mm tape.
IP and associated bits painted and assembled. The original IP decal shattered, so I had to steal another from one of my Modelcraft kits.
Some photos for your enjoyment :)

Note that the LH seat is further back than the RH seat....which is usually how I left the aircraft after flying it. :D
