Hmmm. Doesn't fit right on the fin or the fin fillet. Should I be a pain in the foot and complain to the decal maker again? What do you chaps think?

mmm looks like the window positions on the decal are too high causing the decal to be applied too low, looks like they would be ok if the windows were lowered

Yes have to agree with Wal
Wonder if John would do a decal with the windows separately, so you could adjust

On another note, a friend of mine from the UK Airliner SIG used to work for Beechcraft ended up as Engineering VP, and said the B1900 was the greatest abortion in both manufacturing and engineering terms he ever came across

Looks like Wal and Graeme have nailed the issue with the windows. I'd be talking to the manufacturer and showing him the pictures. See what he has to say about it.

She reminds me off a Kingair with middle-age spread :D
A little known fact is that Qantas was a short-term 1900D operator when it bought out Impulse. No 1900Ds ever carried Qantas colours but they did carry "Operated by QantasLink" decals on the inside of the entry door.

I emailed him on Monday with the pics. No response yet. The only issue is as the kit has clear windows, it has to fit perfect.

So as this project is becoming a pain and I don't want to waste anymore time, I went back to the old decals and used some spare white to fill in the missing fern fronds. Used some decals from the spares box for the lines and orange dots on the nose.

Nice recovery Tony. Know how you fell about spending too much more time on it.

A small update which are turning into monthly updates! How do you blokes with jobs and family find the time? I can't!!

The last month has mainly been painting the small parts like the gear, gear doors, exhausts, aerials, props and the other aerodynamic dangly devices. I finished the gear tonight so hope to install on the weekend. I have place steel pins in the main gear to give some extra strength. To give you an idea on how brittle the resin in this kit is. I test fitted the nose gear which is all one moulded piece of resin. It fell out and dropped no more than 5cm and snapped. More likely shattered. So when this thing is done, it's going into the display case and not moved.

Just a panel line wash.

I'm trying something new with the landing lights on the leading edge of the wing. The kit gives you square chunks of clear frosted resin that does not fit into the holes on the wing. So for the glass I'm using liquitex gel medium. The ship boys use this for water. It is crystal clear when dry but takes time for that to happen. As it's a gel it's a bit easier to mould. I used a small piece of scrap Photo Etch as the lens. I'll post another picture once it dries.

Wow this close up shows how rough the resin is. Doesn't look like that from 10cms away!

Have a good weekend everyone.

Tony
