It's a little beauty Fred, but I've absolutely no idea. I'm guessing it's something interesting though!

It's a interesting aeroplane - full cantilevered wing - not struts.

Any clues?

I don't think it's either a Bellanca or a Rearwin as all of those high wing types I could find have struts of one kind or another. Any hints Fred? like what country and year it was made in?

First of all, the struts are missing because there is more work to be done on it, hence its post in "Members' Work in Progress".
The model is that of Porterfield 35-70, VH-UVH. Its significance is that it was owned by R.M. Ansett in which he won the Handicap Section of the December, 1936 Brisbane-Adelaide Air Race. His prize was 500 pound. 'UVH survives today although the LeBlond radial engine has been replaced with a Continental A-75 engine that has taken away some of the "cute" appearance of its radial era.
The model was made as a contribution toward next years A/CAM's Ansett expo display.
