So over on Britmodeller there is a very active Airliner GB in progress (61 build threads so far!)... I am one of the GB moderators over there.

To be honest I am amazed at the number and variety of entries and we already have 3 builds finished (with a start on the first of the month).

Here is my first build a Revell B737-800

Image

It is the original release without winglets but its not an issue as I have the Contrails replacement wing (with winglets) and a set of replacement engines.

Image

I also have a set of Braz winglets, just in case.

On to the decals, I will be using the Hawkeye sheet for Retro Roo II

Started some clean up of the resin, boy did it need it too.

A test fit of the wing...

Holy batwings Batman!

Image

Looks like some hot water treatment required!....

After some hot and cold water applied the wings look a lot better

Image

I started to clean up the so-called B737NG Contrails engines and gave up on them. They look identical in shape to the kit engines and look like blobs of resin, So I will mod the kit engines instead.

It turns out the Contrails set had 2 LH winglets, so I broke out one of the Braz winglets and started reshaping it and extending the Contrails one...

Image

I also started some puttying

Been filling and sanding the fuselage seams for most of the night. Pretty happy with them

Also installed the winglets

Glued the wing the fuselage after a lot of test fitting

Image

Only to have the superglue grab and dry very before I could get the forward section in place. Now I have a large gap I need to fill.

Image

I have hit it with acetone but I can't budge it so it looks like I will have to fill and sand to get rid of that step.

Ray, try some of this:

It's usually sold next to the CA glues.

Some filling

and after some sanding and base coat applied, still found some seams that still need attention

Mate, I hate sanding. That much filler would make me want to bin the kit. :)
