Well, I wasn't going to do a WIP thread for this, given my lack of progress on other models, but what the heck, right?

Cockpit seats are done:

I've also painted the inside of the cockpit, which needs a touch-up or two. The thing about this model is that there's a fair amount of painting before you can really start gluing things in place...and I dislike painting, especially detail painting with acrylics. Still, I managed ok in the end..

Done some more painting over the last few days...progress is slow, but seemingly steady.

The wheels are done, along with the brake disk and support struts....just gotta break out the grey (again) and do all the parts to the right of the photo.

Here's a photo of the undercarriage jig I made. It's tiny - around 20mm long by 6mm wide..

The instrument panels are almost done - just have to seal the decals with a clear flat, then pick out the instruments with Future. However, I screwed up!! I painted them the wrong grey...so once I seal the decals, I'll have to carefully mask them and repaint them in the correct grey....grrrr!

I painted the headrests, and began gluing stuff into the RH fuselage side. Most went in ok, some I had trouble with, and I managed to bend the shafts on the yellow handles under the IPs. The rear IP gave me a bit of trouble, so I'll glue that in after I close up the fuselage. Such is life, I guess..

The sausage of blue-tac under the rear headrest is there to support it while the glue dries...there was only one point of contact for it!

Got the fuselage together at last.

The wingspan on this thing is huge, even without the winglets attached! Where am I going to put it when it's done?

More progress....slow, but steady.

The other day, I glued in what I presume is the engine cover...guessing there's a powered version out there somewhere. The instructions call for putty to fill the "panel lines" that would result from it going in.

Image

I've also masked the main gear with cling wrap, and the front wheel, so I could fill the gaps in that section.

Image

Another thing that is a little surprising is the inboard control surfaces need to be puttied over as well, so out came the masking tape to protect the outboard surfaces and detail on the underside of the wings.

Oh, did I mention I *hate* puttying....
