Thank you, mates, for your kind words.
Actually the legs are already completed with the brakes tubes. Pics will follow.

Hallo everybody.
A friend of mine asked me to prepare a sort of sample for the mechanical part of a testing instrument. Back to industry modeling after decades.
Therefore I have to clear the bench and temporally stop the Caribou project.
As last update of the year, I post a pair pics of the painted gear legs in test fit.

Hi, everybody.
I've got some progress to report on the Caribou.
If the kinematic of the main gear legs is tricky, I can consider it easy compared to that of the gear doors.
In fact, the leg acts on some leverages that move the doors and make them close.
It took long to understand from the photos and the manual how it actually works, but at the end I did.
Doing something that looks like the real thing requires to work on the model sitting upside down on the jig. I had to do it now, absolutely before the painting stage.

Here you can see the begin with the doors with some added elements. (do not consider the two pieces on the left: they are for the front gear)

Here a first test fit on the aircraft.

Some more elements added and a first bit of paint, just to understand where I am.

All the doors painted inside.

Some views of the temporary assembly.

So, that's it for the week end.
I'd like to let you know that, thanks God, I'm well, despite to the terrible situation that the town where I live is experimenting.
I hope you're doing well likewise.

Best regards
Eugenio

That is impressive detailing work on the doors (and gear legs) Euge. YOu must have some good reference to add that sort of detail.

Glad to hear you are OK.

Thank you, Ray.
Yes, that's true, great references are required, even if they often push the modeler to overdo.
In this case, they are accessible to everybody. They come from this beautiful website: http://www.dhc4and5.org/.
Lot of good information here, pics and technical papers.
The guy who runs this website was also so kind to provide me the specific references about the prototype.
Bye
