Dassault Falcon 900

I am finally getting on with this one, It's been in the stash for some time (thanks Ray!)

Typical Broplan thin plastic

and detailed instructions

It will be done as a RAAF operated jet

So diving right in!

Some cutting out of bits starting with the flying surfaces

Fuselage

The cockpit, to be tidied up

And testing fuselage pieces together
Image

and finally a tape-up of major parts. I have a bit of adjusting and reinforcing to be going on with as the plastic is very thin compared to other vacs I have built.

Looks pretty comprehensive for a vacform kit. Nice work so far, Ray.

So back to the Falcon, I have been distracted with C-130 builds for a GB elsewhere.

Cockpit work started to add the clear section (which is not cut down yet).

The start of assembling the cockpit jigsaw...

Test fitting, still needs adjustment

And the nose wheel well doors cut out

Got the instrument panel fitted to the cockpit tub, the combing will have to be cut down to make it fit in the fuselage. I have also cut out the transparent section ready to fit when the fuselage goes together.
Image

The wings got a dose of putty as one had a lot of small depressions on the lower surface mainly.
Image

Then I started to sort out the engines, adding some tube lengths to wall in the intake and exhaust sections, I also created the 'S' duct for the number 2 engine from more tubing.
Image
Image

Finally, I removed the Satcom blister from the tip of the tail as the aircraft I am doing did not have it fitted while I was at the squadron. I don't think it got the mod until after being sold off.

So moving along with the Falcon, the engines were assembled and puttied. I managed to lose an engine stub wing so I made a new one.
Image

The other sections had been puttied and that was tidied up and more added. I also tinkered with the cockpit pit and instrument panel shroud to make it fit inside the fuselage halves.
Image

As the Broplan plastic is so thin I started to add bulkheads to give it some strength.
Image

And finally, the stub wings were added to the engines.

That's cool as mate. I'd love to try a vacform kit one day. Watching this one with interest :)

Thanks for following Paul.

Did some work reinforcing the fuselage today, as mentioned previously the plastic is very thin and seams will pop very easily.

Some ribs were added and the exhaust section for the No.2 engine so there isn't a huge void visible if you look into the tail pipe.

Image

I had to separate one side of the rear fuselage as it was glued out of alignment.

A test fit shows it goes together nicely at this stage

And the start of the cockpit being cemented in

I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment, the various subcomponents are together.

But first some nose weight!
Image

Major components are glued and the first round of sanding done
Image
Image

The tail group being sorted, I added rub plates to the vertical stab before the horizontal stabs go on, the rub plates are scribed in detail on the vertical stab but stand proud on the actual aircraft
Image

Stabs test fitted, rub plates more noticeable in this shot
Image

A shot of the tail and engine parts
Image

Round 2 of putty applied to the fuselage/wing section, when that is set and sanded then the tail parts will be added. I just remembered the APU exhaust has to be added as well.
