Here I am, back again with two more 727s. This time, a couple of DHL freighters.

First is a regular but old Airfix 727-100. This is still a nice little kit but it has the fault of lacking the double-bubble fuselage. Maybe the coming Revell reissue will be better from this aspect. There are, so far as I am aware, no decals for a red and white DHL 727-100 so I had to use the Aviagraphics sheet for a 727-200, making a few amendments to suit VH-TBS when it flew in DHL colours for a couple of years.

Second is the regular and recently reissued Airfix 727-200. There is no decal sheet for a red and yellow DHL 727 and the closest I could find was the Draw Decals sheet for a 757. Fortunately the fit was pretty good but there was, as you could expect, quite a bit left over since the 757 is longer than the 727. I am not entirely happy with the shade of yellow which seems a bit dark for my tastes. It looked lighter in the can but dried darker. Such is life.

The windows for both these models come from modifications to the Hawkeye Australian air Express 727 sheet which has decals for both the -100 and -200.

Finally, a photo of my final two 727s which are about to enter the paint shop. They will be the first and the last of Australia's 727s.

The DHL birds look great Leigh. What yellow did you use. It looks pretty good to me.

I need to resurrect my DHL 767, need to get another set of decals.

Awesome work Leigh! One of my ex-instructors flew these DHL 727's - he loved them! I think they were the last 727s in operation here in Australia yes?

Cheers
