It is the opinion of some modellers that the Frog Comet is the more accurate of the two kits available. However, apart from better fuselage cross-sections, it does not compare well with the 1972 drawings mentioned in an earlier post. Despite that, the fuselages for 'SR and 'SS are one piece castings from a Frog Comet. Being solid except for the detailed cockpit it was relatively easy to reshape the fuselage to match the drawings. Airfix wings, cowlings/nacelles were used plus the Frog tailplanes. Canopies and landing light covers were plug moulded. The front of the cowling was replaced with the Heller Dragon Rapide items. If the cut is made in the right place the front is a near perfect fit. The pile of bits in the foreground were items to "enhance" the model but were subsequently discarded. G-ACSP, Black Magic was completed some time ago using an all Airfix kit.
The cockpit detail is an after market resin product by
Plastic Passion. It contains cockpit floor, side walls, seats, instrument panels, vacform canopies (2) and wheels.
