Comrade Asimova reporting from the People's Glorious Mini Yak Factory!

Image

It is with limited enthusiasm that I report that Comrade Адам has finished construction of his DOSAAF Yak-52. Unfortunately he did not meet the delivery schedule required by the Party and for this he will be punished!

Anyway, this is the Russian Neomega 1/48 Yak-52 kit produced in the glorious Motherland. Decals are a mix from this kit and the A-Models Yak-52 kit. Wheels came from North Star in Latvia.

I give this kit a degree of difficulty of about 9 out of 10 red stars. The resin is brittle with some warped parts. The resin did not like to be glued with CA glue - a right Russian pain in the rump all up. The vac-form canopy is the let down in this kit - too crude. I "sliced and diced" this one piece vac-form into 5 pieces - to "liven" up the model a bit more. The cockpit is just beautiful I must say and fits together in a most genius way - like a Swiss watch. Overall a real challenge of a kit, but I'm mostly happy with the outcome. It had been well "oiled" up using artist oils as well.

It will be there for the Civvie category for Expo 2016!

Well done. You should enter them in Model Expo. Ohhhhh too soon? Or should I say too late :D

Great work Adam. They look sweet.

Thanks guys. I'm pleased with the result, although still peeved I missed this years Expo. Getting the flu in the week prior to Expo sure didn't help. I was in a cold sweat and stupid mad rush in the end and just peeved off my family big time in the process - not good! Those I caught up with at Expo on Saturday will testify that I was not in the best of health and I humbly apologise if I passed on any of the "man flu" virus on to anyone. "A man has got to know his limitations" as Clint Eastwood once said.

Roll on Expo 2016! I'll at least have a couple of Yaks plus hopefully one or two "Gentlemans's Scale" aeroplanes finally to show - that's the plan anyway.

Cheers

Adam

Last photo - just added some paint chipping to the wings & tail l/e and added some more dirt from the
"Motherland" to the tyres. Mirror shows oil and grime underneath. That's it done - finished!
