New 1/72 Mirage IIIC from High Planes Models

Postby Michel » Thu Oct 04, 2018 6:19 pm

Hi everybody,

Here is a prototype model of the future High Planes Models – PJ Production 1/72 Mirage IIIC.

This model was built using the standard plastic injected sprues from the brand, plus all the specific bits for a IIIC made in 3D printing and used for proof of concept before launching the manufacturing of the mold for the production of these parts in plastic injected.

I used the old HPM decal sheet supplied with the short-run version, few decades ago now, and some form the spare box. This “Djibouti” camo fits the Mirage III quite well and will most probably be available under the PJ Production brand.

Bravo! Magnifique!

I built the Heller 1/48 IIIC in these colours - hand painted many years ago. Sadly that model no longer survives. but I sure liked the paint scheme at the time.

Very nice indeed! I'm holding out the the injected High Planes IIIC, but it just occurred to me that I could use parts of their short run kit of the IIIC with one of their injected IIIOs. Would that be possible, do you think?

Bravo Michel

Yes Leigh, there are so many spares in the HPM Mirage IIIO, probably only thing missing is the eyelid exhaust

Thanks Gents ;)
Leigh, There is already the jet exhaust cover of the IIIC on the injected sprue.
You will need to shorter the front fuselage, the IIIC is 30cm shorter than the IIIE/O. The rocket fuel bay at the back is also different, you will need to take the one from the short run and make a fin with some plastic card, as shown on the instructions, the jet exhaust pipe is also different too as mentioned Graeme.
If you are picky, you will need to use the resin wheels for the IIIC.

Thanks for the challenge. I'll see how bold I'm feeling.
