Another "Shelf of Doom" the VH-CAO "OOPS" moment

Postby VH-WAL » Wed Jan 23, 2019 1:27 pm

4 years on the shelf of doom, I used more sheets of decal paper in a trial and error process of getting the shapes right... I never succeeded, I pulled this off the shelf of doom a few days ago, burned another 3 sheets of decal paper then said enough is enough, this is good as it is going to be.. at least it is finished.
1/72 Airfix modified.

Pictured in model form is the Department of Civil Aviation HS125 flown by 2 examiners of airmen about to land wheels up at Avalon on 24JAN1967

Very impressive, and a great tribute to not doing the checks properly and fully, well remember that was in one of my very first crash comics

I agree, very impressive. VH-CAO has sentimental value for me as it's the first aircraft I flew in, on a Departmental navex from Melbourne to Sydney and back in an afternoon - before the memorable crash. Serious fun. Can I please beg, borrow or pay for those decals so I can make my own model of this one.

Thanks for the decals WAL. Here's where I'm up to so far. I got so inspired by the decal sheet that I started now rather than waiting til after Expo for the group build. Maybe I'll shrink these decals to 1/144 (if you don't mind) and make the Welsh Models 1/144 kit in the same colours for the group build.

My bad. I got excited by Wal's decals. I'll put this on the beck burner until after Expo. It's not as though I don't have a thousand other kits I can made instead.
