1/32 Wingnut Wings Rumpler C. VI

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

1/32 Wingnut Wings Rumpler C. VI

Postby Ericg » Tue Jul 07, 2015 4:15 pm

Here is my latest model, depicted as it would have looked 97 years ago in World War One. Approx. 5 weeks construction time spaced over 2.5 years.

Additions:

Gas Patch turnbuckles/brass tube ends.
EZ Line rigging
Masking tape to depict the intake manifold heat protection.
Aviatic Lozenge decal.
Uschi Woodgrain decal.

I wanted to capture the contrasting wood, wire, leather and fabric components of the model hence the harsh lighting taken in direct sunlight. I hope it looks real enough this way.

Outstanding Eric! The "realism" quotient is off the charts sir! Can't tell the model from the real thing.

How did you do that prop?

Cheers

Adam

Hi Adam,

I painted the prop with a Tamiya Acrylic light wood colour and then sketched the laminations with a darker coloured pastel pencil, followed by outlining each lamination with a lead pencil, sealing it with a brush coat of future, then applied dark oil paint with a sponge for the woodgrain. I then gave it a clear orange/future mix coat to stain it and then 2 coats of fututre to seal it and give it depth.

Eric.
