A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

1/72 RAAF Mirage A3-33 in a very different scheme

Postby AndrewDoppel » Fri Sep 26, 2014 10:03 pm

I got this 1/72 Heller Mirage IIIE off HRTPaul a little while back with all good intentions of cutting it up for a diorama but it got the better of me and I had to build it as is but I wanted to try something a little different than normal with a RAAF Mirage. So with the help of Motty's & Changa's 'Mirage Bible' I knocked this up using the seat (and pitot tubes) from a new HPM Mirage instead of the Heller kit one, a canopy coutesy of David Edwards (as I have misplaced or lost the one from Paul) and using left over decals from Ray and Knotty.....thanks to all you guys. Anyway, if you have Motty's book and go to temporary schemes you'll find this Mirage in there when at a time 75 Sqn went on operations and didn't get it painted in time and was left in green primer....Motty may be able to explain more. Here's the pics of the first model completed from the cave.

Cheers Ray. It's just so different I guess to the normal schemes. Unfortunately the shaded panels don't show up as well as I expected.

Ps; Chris had a ball doing work experience with three sim flights. Then tomorrow we're off to Alice Springs.

Thanks Paul. Cheers again for the kit. Very basic in comparison to the new HPM kit but hey, it looks like a Mirage.

Very true mate. I'm hangin to do a HPM Mirage so I'll probably do an Argy Dagger after I've finished the current Skyhawk :)
