another whirlwind....RAAF Perth 1944

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

another whirlwind....RAAF Perth 1944

just finished my first Trumpeter Whirlwind.

the kit is pretty much out of the box, except i have moved the radiators back in the wing to give a more scale look to the plane,i have lowered the cockpit floor as it's a bit shallow and for the first time rescribed the flying surfaces as the kit had them looking more like panels.
as a kit it is great to put together and with the minor improvements(that were quiet easy in the end) a much nicer looking model.

i'm very happy with the final result.

Dude that is sensational! One of your best models, if not the best to date!

I'm no expert on the Whirlwind, but do think it's a fantastic looking aeroplane. It mainly had issues with the engines right?

Great work - Bravo!

Cheers

thanks guys...i think it's between this and the fulmar as my best work....and i did all the work on this :D

Adam the engine were a problem to a point...the peregrine whilst a development of the kestrel it was never fully developed.....and the merlin was the winner  :o 8-) ....if the whirlwind had been given the merlin as Petter wanted the RAF would have had a 400mph+ fighter in 1940 :o .......the pilots that flew the whirlwind loved them.
