Model Expo 2021 and A/CAM

Postby tor lives » Fri Feb 05, 2021 7:19 pm

Hi all,
As I am sure many of you are already aware, the Model Expo Committee has announced that this year's Model Expo is indeed a goer, and will be conducted at the usual venue on the weekend of 30/31 October 2021, (see below for Model Expo Committee statement).
As many of us know, these dates have conflicted with one or two other modelling events around the country that have been planned for that same weekend. This is unfortunate, (especially for those who would normally attend all these events), but let's "glass half full" this situation, and just consider ourselves lucky that we have a Model Expo at all this year, given the extraordinary times that we are living in.
After much consideration I have decided that A/CAM will not be conducting its usual club display at this year's Model Expo and, instead, will move this year's planned A/CAM display,
(Angels of Mercy: Emergency Services Aircraft), to the 2022 event. There are several reasons for this.... including that fact that some who would normally contribute models for our displays will simply not be in a position to attend this year's Model Expo, and therefore will not be able to participate in our club display. Given that these A/CAMers have, in some cases, already prepared models for the display, this would simply be unfair and disrespectful to them and their efforts.
A/CAM will however once again sponsor "our" two usual model competition categories.....they being Airliners and Non-Military Aircraft.
Despite the craziness and upheaval of the past 12 months, A/CAM looks forward to continuing its close working relationship with the Model Expo Committee, and thanks them for their amazing efforts and commitment in ensuring that we all have a Model Expo to attend this year.

The Model Expo Committee is pleased to announce that dates have been finalised for a 2021 event.
The 2021 Australian Model Expo is scheduled for the 30 and 31 st of October 2021 and will be conducted at the Sandown venue. This move to later in the year is due to various circumstances and limitations enforced on the event but will provide for addition time for the overall COVID situation to hopefully improve during the extended period.
Model Expo 2021 will be a 2-day event with a focus on the Competition, Club Displays and Traders. This unfortunately means that some of the normal features such as Demos, Make & Take and the Swap & Sell will not be possible. The overall situation on the curtailed features will be under review during the year and any changes will be advised via the Model Expo Website.
We thank you for your patience and understanding through these times re the difficulty the COVID situation has placed on such events as the Australian Model Expo. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in October 2021 and to have the opportunity to physically view the many models that have produced through the lockdown period.
