What's on your shelf of doom?

Postby BradG » Wed Mar 22, 2023 8:03 pm

Rather than a bench check I thought we could do a shelf of doom check.

I have only 2 on the shelf, or the box of doom as it is here.

1 - 1/48 Dragon Heinkel 162. It's the rather old now Trimaster kit, that was a bit of a handful to build even when it came out. It fought me about half the way to being built until I couldn't make the wings fit well enough and it went back in the box.

2 - Airfix new mold 1/72 Focke Wulf 190A. Just kept fighting me every single inch of the god damn way. Was looking at the Hasegawa offerings in my stash and noped out on it.

Honestly, these will probably end up in the bin. Tamiya have a much nicer Heinkel that you can get for less than 40 bucks mostly, or even cheaper at almost any swap and sell, along with the Hasegawa Focke Wulfs that are a dime a dozen again, at almost any swap and sell.

Over to you guys.....

Well, how much space do I have....

My Heller 1/72 707/E-3A, just needs the final paint to be started

1/72 Hasegawa P-3C to be finished as a CP-140 FIncalstle bird (literally :-) )

The good old Anigrand C-17, enough said

1/72 C-130J which needs final paint and decals

1/144 Revell A330-300 converted to a -200 (I have some motivation to finish it now as I saw plenty of them landing at Honolulu sitting on the beach at Waikiki)

1/144 Zvevda 787-8 which was converted to a -9 ( before the -9 kit came out).

I could go on with plenty more but I will leave it there.

I found another, the Bronco 1/350 type IX u boat. I've rescued this one though and put it on the bench today.

Finally a (non)modelling thread I can contribute to, although I would call mine boxes of doom. My modelling has stalled for quite a while as my work area is buried under all sorts of bits and pieces and my time seems to be taken up with too many other activities and distractions. What I have unfinished is:
1/200 Hasegawa JAL 767-200
1/200 Hasegawa E-767 AWACS “J.A.S.D.F”
1/144 Revell 737-800 - planned to be Kulula airlines
1/400 Dragon A340-313 Air China that I have lost the Air China decals for. I am sure they will turn up sometime when I start sorting through things.
1/48 Revell Ju-87B-2 Stuka
1/24 McLaren Mercedes MP 4/23
1/25 AMT Gotham City Police car
That is all I can think of for now although there may some more there in some of the boxes.
Cheers,
Peter

Proof some models do make it back from the shelf of doom. I set out to finish this on the weekend or throw it out. Finished just in time.
