Good to see that we are getting two more of these incredibly useful and versatile aircraft....now we just gotta get two more KC-30s.

Well Ray, 2 are a definite, there is talk of 2 more on top of that. I think the KC-30s will come too but there is not such urgency with production lines shutting down so I expect they will come later.

Dave,

AIM in the UK are doing a A330 in 1/72 along with a KC-30 conversion set. It was announced some time ago, I supplied some reference material towards it. Not sure how they are progressing.

Re: Attention Airliner Nerds - QF Retro Scheme

Getting back on topic, seeing as the Qantas Kangaroo logo is 70 years old now, the retro bird could be more retro than you think...

Hmmmmmm.... 8-)

Yep, and love the artwork, but I think the middle word of the title would be the killer for that scheme

I think the more likely will be the ochre stripe, now I well remember on one of the early Hawkeye sheets that there was a paint formula to match Qantas Red
It was 3 colours in the Tamiya range, so went out and bought them, one was the base red, the other the base orange and the other one was a dark green RLM70 or 71 from memory, and thought that can't be right  , but mixed it to the proportions and it gave me a great match for the ochre colour.
Might have to go find that paint match if it does turn out to be that scheme.

So of the ones presented so far, I like the V Jet the best, with Scotty's second and the ochre stripe the least,

Given that the purpose of the retro-scheme is to celebrate the "Flying Kangaroo" I think it is fair to assume that the scheme chosen will be the one where the Flying Kangaroo was most prominent and remembered ie: the 70s ochre scheme.
Also keep in mind that we have had a V-jet retro-scheme flying around for many years in the form of John Travolta's
Boeing 707-138B....so there is really no reason to re-visit this particular scheme.
All just my opinion though :D
