Airbus 330

Postby davecana » Sat Nov 22, 2014 9:28 am

A question for the people working on or around the 330. What size are the main and nose tyres? I made some rough plans in 1/72 for a 330, but don't have wheel/tyre size info. TIA.

I had been chasing similar information for a Cessna 150 & 172 recently and downloaded a Goodyear tyre catalogue (just google: Goodyear tyre db_airdatabook.pdf and it should find the document quite easily). It lists what sorts of tyres are used by all sorts of aircraft - civil, commercial and military - and the specifications of those tyres and associated wheels.
From this, for an A330, the main tyres are:
54 x21.0-23 or 1400x530R23 Diameter: max 54" min 53" Section width: max 21" min 20.15"
Auxiliary ( nose):
1050x395R16 Diameter: max (grown) 42.65" min. (new) 40.59" Section width: max (grown) 16.15" min (new) 14.53"
The catalogue also lists wheel dimensions as well.

I pretty much concur with Peter.

The info I found from both Goodyear and Michelin is:

Mains: 1400mm x 530mm x 23" rim (54'' x 21" x R23)
Auxillary: 1050mm x 395mm x 16" rim (40.5" x 15.5" x R16)
