2014: My productive year in Man Scale

Postby Ericg » Tue Dec 23, 2014 1:33 pm

This is on other forums too guys and as there are a few civil builds, thought it might go here too.

Well guys, 2014 was a big year where I finished up a few that had been hanging around for too long and started way too many. Having said that, I completed 10 1/32 scale aircraft this year. I don't think I could have chosen a more diverse mix of airframes, and found many new challenges along the way to satisfy my need to continually push the boundaries of my hobby. I thank all of you that left comments on each of my builds, it really does give me great satisfaction to read them and also to those that I met at the various shows that I am able to attend. look out for many of these on the tables in 2015.

Would be good to hear which of these builds was your favourite.

Eric.

I thought it would be great to put all of my 2014 builds in one cabinet:

I thought the same about the pancake too. It sorta grows on you when you build it and appreciate the design though. Would have been interesting to see it fly.

I can't pick a favourite, they are all works of art, even the Pancake but I'm sorta leanin' towards the F-104, Mirage and the Triplane Eric.
Every time I watch your builds and see the finished works of art (their more than just models) I think about taking up knitting. LOL. :D
Looking forward to your 2015 efforts.

Cheers

Very very hard to pick out a fav. For me it must be the French Lady though due to the complexity of this build and the end result. This has to be the ultimate example of a RAAF Mirage model anywhere on this planet.
Dude, your work is second to none and is a major inspiration. You are also very generous sharing your techniques in your quest to push the "envelope" in scale modelling.

Have a fantastic Christmas & New Year and very much looking forward to seeing what gets wheeled out of Capt Eric's "man scale" hangar next year!

All the best

All amazing work. Some of us are modellers, others are artists. As for my favourite... Anything in USN deep sea blue always gets my vote, but the Triplane looks wonderful too.

As for Man Scale, hurumph. I'm sometimes tempted to make a model in 1/32 because it would be so easy with all those big pieced of plastic (or resin or whatever) to work with, but I can't imagine making a 747 in that scale so I'll have to stick to 144.

All I can say is WOW!!!
Thanks so much for allowing us to share the journey with so many of these fantastic models Capt Eric. I think my two favourites are the Comet, (just breath-taking!!!), and the Tiger Moth....but hell, they are all just bloody beautiful!!
