Don't know if you have seen this, but I found it interesting.

Amazing how some components have stood the test of time so well.
This reminds me of some of the trekking around the Mojave and Arizona deserts Knotty and I have done, in the search for aviation relics.

Wow, that has stood up well to the desert over the last 37 years. I would have expected more rust and paint fade, but some of those stencils look brand new.

My heart breaks and my eyes weep :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: BTW Troy being in the desert the lack of corrosion is very normal. That's why they store aircraft in the desert because they don't corrode anywhere near as fast as they do on the coast :)

More on the paint fade due to the sun, was I referring to. Plus they store the planes in Arizona after being corrosion treated and wrapped. Not the same as spreading the parts across a mountain side in the desert.

The corrosion treatment is to further reduce the chances of corrosion. It still stands that there's not much corrosion on those parts due to being in the desert.
