Went up to SYD on Thursday for 777 familiarity training (Qatar starts services into CBR next month).

Got the chance to look through and pushback an A380!

View up the stairs towards the flightdeck. Flightcrew rests on the right, dunny on the left.
Image

Looking back from the flightdeck - one crew rest up & left, a second down & right of picture.
Image

The front office. Quite roomy actually!
Image

Looking right there's 2 jump seats (centre one can be used by a Check Captain). There's a third jump seat tucked away to the left as you enter.

Close-up of the instruments.
Image

Midship there is a steep entrance to the Cabin crew rest below. (between the forward and aft cargo holds)
Image

12 beds down here (6 double bunk arrangement)
Image

Outside, preparing to push and tow from Bay 5 to Bay 9.
Image

Looking out the back of the tug, the driver was about to reverse-push out then tow.
Image

After reaching Bay 9, some of the activity going on around us.
Image

Just before I pushed back QF12 for L.A.

It was definitely an interesting change from the CBR ramp, that's for sure!

You lucky, lucky b*stard!

Biggest aircraft I ever got to tow was a USAF KC-135 visiting FBN back in the mid 90s.

Nah....it was only there for display. They actually pushed it all the way back to the maintenance hangar..

Just saw all the fluid pools underneath her and thought "situation normal" :D
Lost count of the number of times I stood on those flight decks at 0200 in the morning.....asking the same ol question, "so is it U/S or not"??? :D
Seriously though, how good is it to see the Ansett name on the side of an aircraft. I applaud QF for this!!

Is there anything nice to be said about Airbus, Mr TOR? Apart from keeping Boeing on their toes? I think they look nice anyhow and I don't mind flying in them. My A330 flight over to Perth and back again last year was very pleasant, being up the rich people's end as I was.
