Cool. I can't help but think if I was a pilot I'd just whack on the ILS like I do cruise control in my commodore and watch the aircraft land itself.

Brad...sometimes we do, but if only you knew what goes into autoland training and certification, you would realise it's not as easy as you think it is. :)

Oh come on Capt, it's not that hard. Flip a switch here, press a button there and the thing flies itself. I remember many years ago I was in the jump seat of a QANTAS 747 and the pilot was flying it by adjusting the heading with a single knob.

All planes have the capability to land themselves, it's just a case of whether it will fly again afterwards. Or if anyone survives the landing. :D
