Pitts Specials Downunder - a tribute.

Postby Adam the Akrodude » Sat Jul 11, 2015 12:35 pm

Inspired by Ross's post, I thought I's start a album to upload pic's of local Pitts Specials I've seen over the years. Only one I've flown is VH-SZE, a S-2A (two hole).

S-2B - at Wodonga for Vic Champs years ago.

Same S-2B at Leongatha

Jim Leroy and his Bulldog (modified S-2S) at Avalon, a few months before his fatal accident.

Chris Sperou's Pitts S-1-11B "Super Stinker"

S-1S (could be an "E" if homebuilt, not factory built). This had the modified wider track main wheels and could have a C/S prop. This makes it more like a S-1T.

I so loved flying SZE - on way back from practice day down at Tooraddin, late afternoon.

Skip Stewart's Prometheus (modified S-2S) in company with a Edge 540, Avalon.

S-2A, lives at Lethbridge near Geelong.

Paul Bennet's "Wolf". I'd think the most powerful Pitts in the country at 400HP.

And of course, here's a 1/32 Airshow Models Pitts S-2B!

Great pics there Adam. I especially like that first one of SZE on the ground and the one of you flying her. I have a soft spot for the Pitts even though I'll more than likely never fly solo, not at my age anyway. I think they'd be just a smidge too hot for me.

Regards,
RHB.
