Typhoons Evening and Night flying mre added

Postby VH-WAL » Tue Aug 04, 2020 10:40 pm

The Typhoons are night flying this week and I have been waiting for an opportunity to take some "Golden Light"photos. As it turned out there wasnt a bad golden sky but there were no jets around during the brief window of opportunity. Anyway it was nice to get some shots in different lighting conditions. Will have to go back tomorrow to see if I can get lucky...maybe even an AB night takeoff dare I hope.. Again there will be more in the photostream if you look for them by clicking on a pic.

I find this next one most evocative of the older Hawker Typhoon! Swap the radome for the prop spinner and intakes for the the radiator you might see it too?

Nice shots Wal,

Where there many other spotters there at the time? Not often you see these evening shots on the photo sites.

Hiya Ray,
A fair number of spotters there... say 50 percent of normal attendance. There were a lot of ring ins watching from the near by caravan park

Went out again last night.. I took some highly ambitious shots 1/15 sec shutter speed with 400mm zoom with mixed results, fun night.

Great shots! Are there special viewing areas where you can shoot through or over the perimeter fencing?

Hiya Adam, I am a bit late answering!
Coningsby has a park and view area. You can shoot approaching aircraft from there but to get decent shots you have to walk a bit to get the right side of the sun. You can shoot through the fence or take a step ladder to shoot over, in some places a step stool will get you high enough. At the other end of the runway there is limited parking but foot access along the boundary fence is available in a farmers field, you shoot through the fence or a full size step ladder there are a couple of other areas of access the require a long walk carrying a stool or ladder.
