Adam's trip to PNG

Postby Adam the Akrodude » Fri Aug 15, 2014 11:34 am

Recently I had to make a mad dash to PNG for work - one of those "We want you here NOW!" jobs. Never been to PNG before, so was up for the challenge. Took the trust camera along and shot some pic's which may be of interest to some.

Cracker pics mate. I've worked on the Dash you flew in. An amazing place but a word of advice from someone who lived there for a while. I would be careful how far you venture especially on your own. Unfortunately it's not a very safe place. But so beautiful at the same time :)

Thanks Paul!
It was my first trip to PNG, so pretty interesting. Did not have to spend any time in Moresby luckily, well warned on issues there. Lihir is pretty safe being a mining island. One expat was recently chopped up a bit because he was knocking off some locals wife - oops! Same thing would happen here.
How about you working on one of the birds I pax'd in. Thought it rattled a bit! :D
The first one I was in from Moresby to Lihir was one old P.O.S! The window was greasy on the inside - yuck. The left prop c/s unit seemed to hunt, take ages to synchronise or settle down. There was this WAH-ah-WAH-ah-WAH-ah for ages in climb. Maybe the driver liked thinking he was a Heinkel 111 driver over London!
I may have to go back next month - we'll see.
C'mon

Yeah...on enlarging the photo they are both carrying a PNGDF roundel. Wonder what ever happened to the Hueys we gave them???

It's not just Moresby you have to worry about mate. Pretty much all of PNG or so it was when I was there.
