So..Who else besides me, wants a 1/72 DC-7C? Have I got news

for you!
You guys may remember my disappointment with the Contrails resin set to convert the Heller DC-6 to a DC-7C find the comments here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1708&p=15760&hilit=crapulence#p15760

Well after collecting dust on the shelf I decided I wanted this thing finished and put out an "APB" to get as much 3 view material to assist me in doing the engine / nacelle work..........this request reached my mate (I have met him a few times), Neil Gaunt of Aircraft in Miniature who said he would do them in resin for me. He got straight on to the virtual "drawing board" and after about 3 weeks work he has come up with this:

As well as the engine set I require, Neil is working on FULL conversion sets to make a 1/72 DC-7B and DC-7C (using the Heller DC-6 kit) which will be ready in the nearish future. When produced the conversion sets will be available from Hannants of Lowestoft. I have Neil's Argonaut conversion set for the Revell C-54 / DC-4 kit and the quality is outstanding, so this should be good! I cant wait to get my hands on my DC-7 bits

Work continues on the DC-7 B and C conversion set designs, Neil Gaunt of AIM has sent me these for broader dissemination.

Firstly on receipt of new reference material, the engine nacelle and saddle tank design previously published is being tweaked to more accurately represent these items.

The centre section design is quite complex and is still a W.I.P.

Two propeller designs, round and square tipped with deicers incorporated.

Already pre-ordered mine from Hannants!

I worked with Neil on his Cessna 310 kits. He's a great guy, and his work is outstanding. He was going to re-release the old J&L/Formaplane DC-7C in Braniff's "El Dorado" livery several years ago, but found that the mold was damaged. I was finally able to acquire one of those kits, but these conversion parts will be much better.
