I think the latest iteration of the rules excludes anything with military markings. There is a discussion on the Faecbook page.

A civil helicopter would be eligible for this category or helicopters - there are some nice ones around...... like this
https://www.redroomodels.com/product/br ... n-service/

To quote the Expo handbook that is online currently;

"Airliner Derivatives – May pertain to civil airliners in military or government service."

and for Civil Aircraft;

"Excludes Civil Airliners, Airliner Derivatives and Rotary Wing aircraft."

I'm with Brad.....a 707 will always be a 707 regardless of markings. Why must we repeatedly have this argument ????

You are correct - what is in the handbook is how it stands. Airliner derivatives include those with military markings.

The discussion arose partly because a modeller asked if he could enter a Heinkel 111Z Zwilling in this category. Apart from being facetious, I could see what he was getting at and undertook to investigate. The technically correct answer is yes, he can enter it.

As for helicopters - yes there was one entered in the category at Expo but it would not have been judged as it was in the wrong place. This was not the only misplacement at Expo.

Note that it has been the responsibility for the last two Expos for entrants to enter things in the right category.
Expo staff will advise but not remove and replace.

Interesting about misplaced entries not being judged, I noticed an French tank in an Axis armour category a couple of years back which got a Commended award!

A couple of years back the Expo orgaisers would have put it in the right spot - if it had been picked up.
If it was a FT, R35, Char D1, H35, H39 or S35, maybe it was a Vichy one?

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure it won second. BTW, I'm not complaining, I'd like to see this changed so helicopters can be entered in non military aircraft.
