Yep.....16 November, the official Qantas birthday.
I too think the name is a nice touch.

Yep.....she looks for all the world like her bigger, older sister, the classic Boeing 707-338C.
The only thing missing will be the sight and sound of those magnificent, legendary, howling P&W JT3D-3B low bypass turbo-fans :D .

Looks great. Pity they didn't leave the bottom half polished Aluminium but understand why as it would look crap with the unpainred non aluminium parts. As seen here on the nose, wing fairing and nose gear doors of AA's old scheme:

Another minor difference from the original is the rego. On the original scheme the rego is white and integrated into the ochre cheat line, where as on this retro scheme rego is larger and above the cheat line. This is apparently a regulatory directive as they require the rego to be highly visible.
Another difference is of course the addition of the Oneworld logo to the original scheme.

At the unveiling today the round qantas sticker was removed from under the aircraft's name to reveal a bow tie. Nice touch as the aircraft is named after James Strong who was renowned for wearing them.

Looks like the wings did not receive the true-to-the-original retro finish.

"Qantas" should appear top left and bottom right of the wings, with rego top right and bottom left.
