Spammer from last night

Hi folks
As some will be aware, we got spammed last night by a "Richard Sux"!!! ....opps sorry, did I mis-spell that name
We are not yet quiet sure how "tricky dicky" managed to get through out exisitng spam defences but it is being investigated at the moment.
He did not manage to access site restricted areas, so all good there.
Rest assured that our spammer mate has very quickly been flushed from the site, with all his details noted for future reference .
Thanks to all those ACAMers who very quickly alerted me to this spamming event.

OK....so investigation complete and remedial action taken to prevent further spammer incursions onto our little site.
Seems some of our spammer friends have new software that can allow them to "self-activate" a forum entry application, but forum platforms such as ours and AMI's (phpBB), have quickly come up with a "patch" fix that negates this ability.
Just for everyone's interest, we have over 20 forum entry application requests a day from spammers, and to date only 2 have gotten through, so I am happy that our spam defences are pretty robust. As always though, if a spam attack does occur...feel free to alert me, Adam, or Andrew ASAP, (so we can kick their friggen arse and the time-wasting crap they post off the site at the earliest opportunity).

As mentioned, everyday now I am deleting some 20+ forum membership applications that are all spammers!!!, (they just keep rolling in and wasting my time ....why do they bother!!), yet not one legitimate forum membership application has been received in a long time....this is very discouraging and disappointing .

It all takes time mate. Besides we don't want some of the wankers that seem to inhabit other sites here just for the sake of numbers. I'm sure the site sponsors and the members would agree
